My review :-
The book ‘Done with her’ by Chirasree Bose falls under the genre of crime and mystery thriller. But it also includes the scenes of love , intimacy and social issues which makes it a different read from the regular crime thriller novels. The book is a debut novel of the author and has done a good job to impress the audience in the first work itself.
The book is a short and quick read that can be finished in an hour’s time. The cover is average and could have been a lot better. The title is good but it’s tough to relate it to the story. The story is very fast paced and the events get over in quick time. The writing style of the author is impressive and succeeds in holding the readers in grip through the narrative style. The English is simple and easily readable without any complicated words.
Coming to the story, it’s short and simple but has the most important element of suspense and surprise in it… The plot has just about 4 main characters and 2-3 supporting characters which hardly make an appearance. But story is all about these 3 men who have wronged a couple and what happens later which turns into a series of mysterious events taking place in their respective lives. Adding anything more could prove to be a spoiler so let me just end at that.
The story has a few drawbacks in the flow . The narration could have been better with a few more scenes into the plot and making the readers more curious. The ending of the story could have been better which just falls flat and becomes very much predictable in comparison with how the story started.
The highlight of the book for me is the inclusion of importance of love and also a social issue discussed which needs a lot of focus to be laid on these days. It’s a quick read so for all the mystery lovers, it’s a must read.
